It has already been more than a year and a half since we last heard from Seda Suleymanova, a Chechen woman who was kidnapped from an apartment in Saint Petersburg in August. The young woman was taken by the Chechen security forces, who brought her to Grozny and handed her over to her relatives. However, in February SK SOS's sources in the republic reported that her relatives had committed an “honour killing” against her.

Investigative agencies did nothing, despite appeals from human rights activists and a statement from Seda’s fiancé. Only after more than 2,000 people sent their appeals did the Investigative Committee initiate a criminal case in connection with Seda’s “disappearance without a trace.” The complainant in the case was Seda’s friend, Lena Patyaeva, and the case itself was transferred to Chechnya’s Investigative Committee.

Since then, nothing has happened with the case. Lena Patyaeva has repeatedly held solitary protests and filed complaints demanding that the case be taken under the supervision of the federal Investigative Committee. However, these complaints were just forwarded back to Chechnya.

Send an appeal to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, requesting that he take the case under his personal supervision.
