Igor Yakunichev, a 36-year-old resident of the village of Pangody in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and creator of the YouTube channel "Infinity Is Not the Limit" (‘Beskonechnost ne predel’), is being held in Yekaterinburg's pre-trial detention center No. 5 on criminal charges of "military fakes," "discrediting the army," and "calls for terrorism". His anti-war videos on VKontakte became an excuse for authorities to initiate persecution.

Igor suffers from severe chronic spinal conditions: back in 2006, he fractured two vertebrae and underwent complex surgery to install an implant. Later, the implant migrated, and now his condition causes serious concern as he suffers from severe spinal pain and has a constant high fever. Furthermore, he has developed tumors in his cheekbone area. These tumors may be malignant, so immediate medical attention is required because delays can lead to irreversible consequences and even a lethal outcome.

Igor needs special sleeping and rest conditions — an orthopedic mattress and a gentle regimen — but these are not provided. In contrast, he's being regularly placed in solitary confinement in a special unit or in a punishment cell, where conditions are particularly harsh. As a result, Igor's health has significantly deteriorated.

In early August 2025, Yakunichev was examined by a surgeon (regarding his tumors) and a neurologist (regarding his spinal problems). In both cases, doctors recommended surgery and subsequent treatment. Despite this, upon his return to the pre-trial detention center, Igor didn’t receive either a medical discharge record or any prescriptions.

Since January 2025, the administration of pre-trial detention center No. 5 has been withholding his medications, threatening violence, concealing his medical records, and regularly "losing" his medical files. Yakunichev himself claims that the facility's senior commissioner has threatened him with "sexual reprisals" for filing the complaints. Despite that, the situation is becoming critical as a lack of appropriate medical treatment is highly likely to lead to irreversible consequences for Igor's health.
