Help Lyudmila Razumova get medical care!

A 58 year old artist Lyudmila Razumova and her ex-husband were sentenced to 7 years in prison for a series of anti-war graffiti 'Forgive us, Ukraine'.

Lyudmila has been imprisoned since 2022. During this time she has already been sent to a punishment cell 8 times and to a prison-like cell 2 times. In a punishment cell a prisoner must spend the whole day standing without even a possibility to sit down.

Bad detention conditions made Razumova’s health deteriorate seriously. She complained of numbness in hands and legs, varicoses, hypertension (up to 220 mmHg), heartache and backpain. That condition could be a harbinger of stroke, but the officers in the colony refused to get her medical aid. Only after Lyudmila had a nervous breakdown at the end of 2024 she was temporarily sent to a prison hospital for examination.

Persecution and even bullying of Lyudmila were getting worse: she was being sent to a punishment cell again and again for false reasons – for example, for eating a cellmate’s candy, doing exercises badly, 'insulting the honor’ of disciplinary committee members.

On February, 28 Lyudmila Razumova, while being in a punishment cell, announced hunger strike as a reaction to the pressure exerted on her by the administration of the colony № 5 of Tverskaya region and her worsening health condition. After 13 days, on March, 12 she stopped the hunger strike due to drastically poor health and weakness. Despite that, medical care wasn’t provided to her. Instead of medical care, she was sent to a punishment cell for another 14 days.

We together have sent 7016 applications to the prosecutor's office and the Federal Penitentiary Service demanding to provide medical care to Lyudmila Razumova in a prison hospital in the Torzhok town and to send her to another colony where she will not be harassed.

On March, 20 Lyudmila was finally sent from a punishment cell in the colony № 5 of Tverskaya region to a prison hospital in the town of Torzhok.

What's next?

Thanks to extraordinary society support, our demands were partly satisfied – Lyudmila was sent to a hospital where, we hope, she will get necessary medical care.

We have temporarily stopped collecting signatures, but we continue to monitor the situation closely. We will seek full treatment for Lyudmila and for her to be transferred to another colony, where she’ll be provided with proper detention conditions.
